Turkey Day

Mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, turkey, stuffing, crescent rolls, and pie are all delectable and mouthwatering foods that we all crave into on the last Thursday of each November. However, there is one that stands out among the rest. Of all the thanksgiving food, it is easy to say that the turkey is simply the best. You don’t see little children in elementary school drawing mashed potatoes or ears of corns during this holiday. Rather, the beloved and adored turkey.

The turkey is a work of art. The turkey that is presented on Thanksgiving Day was first chosen wisely among many at a local grocery store. Later, the turkey is showered with spices and herbs to complement the savory taste of the turkey. After cooking for several hours in a perfectly heated oven, the turkey is ready to be taken out. All of the eyes gathered around the table wait for this very moment. Not for the mashed potatoes or crescent rolls to be taken out but rather the turkey. As light reflects off the turkey as it is taken out of the oven, mouths drool and hearts expand as family and friends wait impatiently to devour this heavenly and scrumptious bird.
It is simple to see why the turkey is the best food at a Thanksgiving gathering. The turkey is a symbol of this holiday and a divine treat when it reaches the mouths of those who celebrate this day. Thanksgiving is full of many different kinds of delicious food from green beans to apple pie but there is no food that comes close to the overall satisfaction of turkey. It’s called turkey day for a reason, right?

Texting and Driving

Texting while driving is a very serious topic that I have a strong stance against. Driving is dangerous by itself but is extremely dangerous when distractions are added to the equation. In today’s time, cell phones are a big part of everybodys’ everyday life. Many people can’t wait till after their done driving to check their phones. Rather, they feel the messages are so urgent that they have risk their lives and others to respond to calls and texts.

Since I deliver pizzas everyday, I am on the road driving a lot. I see several people on their phone while driving throughout the day. I have not witnessed an accident but I know that the statistics show that texting and driving is very unsafe. This is a very important topic that needs to be addressed to both driving teens and adults in order to prevent these unnecessary life threatening accidents from happening. The topic is very meaningful to me and I hope to get the message across to everyone that texting and driving must be ended.

Cats vs. Dogs Summary

In my compare and contrast essay, Cats vs Dogs, I compared many differences between owning a dog and owning a cat. I went over several things such as the cost to own each animal, the life changes an owner must make when adopting either animal, and the housing arrangements that must be considered. I gathered numbers and statistics about each topic and explained them thoroughly. I developed a conclusion that cats do not make as big of an impact on the owner as compared to dogs. This essay, overall, compares and contrasts cats to dogs in several ways that is thought provoking to the reader and keeps the reader interested into finding out more.

Ted Talk

In Ariana Huffington’s Ted talk, she tells her audience what the secret to success is. The secret to success is somrthing easy and something we all enjoy. The secret to success that she explains is getting more sleep. She talks about a past experience in her life when she was so sleep deprived that she fainted. Her interesting way of delivering her talk makes it very amusing to watch and listen to. She has a very strong opinion that getting enough sleep will guarantee success. This point she expresses can be severely debated.

Ariana addresses her topic in a comedic manner. She presented her ideas in a way that kept the audience interested throughout her whole talk. She makes funny statements such as “We are literally going to sleep our way to the top.” She makes these statements to be firm however tells them in a funny way. I can personally see the relation between sleep and success in my own life. I believe she has good reasoning behind what she says and firmly believes what she is saying. When I get more sleep, I tend to get more done throughout the day. However, I believe getting too much sleep can be just as negative as getting no sleep. Overall, she talks about an interesting idea in a way that comes across as fun and interesting.
